[4:05 PM]Jeremy Parker: if I can’t personally become transformed into personified flowers I’d like someone I know to
[4:06 PM]Tina: :p
[4:08 PM]Jeremy Parker: Ok so I’m going to explain that, because it’s both specific and general, and general again in another way
[4:09 PM]Jeremy Parker: 1) there’s this little cafe on the river that in the springtime has trellises covered in flowers, a vision which has stuck with me for a long time
[4:12 PM]Jeremy Parker: 2) being there, for me, flowers are beautiful, but delicate, and with an air of solitude, and becoming a part of that… You know how people start to look like their dogs, right? Well that happens with cities too, I think, and, if you’re careful to avoid the Walmart lifestyle that often accompanies small towns, you may actually become flowers
[4:17 PM]Jeremy Parker: 3) some memories you can never shake, they’re so important that they follow you forever, and I don’t mean big events, I mean single moments, just frozen spots of time – sometimes they’re good, sometimes they’re bad, sometimes they’re just weird –
one of those, a good one, for my wife, was when we went apple picking outside of owego, we were standing on a hill, picking out apples, and we turned around, and we were hit by this incredible view of the valley, in perfect peak fall colors, it was really nice, but for my wife, there will always be a part of her there, for good (the beauty) and for bad (the nostalgia)
And that’s another thing that flowers are, little moments, and there’s something about owego – it’s small, not like a small town is small, but like a voice is small, which is also floral, for me
[4:21 PM]Tina: yeah 🙂
